12/25/2023 0 Comments Square enix project triangle strategy![]() I don't really have one specific game that I lean strongly toward, because I like them all. NintendoĪre there any classic Square Enix games that you would want to see remade in this HD-2D style?Īsano: I played a lot of Square Enix games when I was a child, around the Famicom and Super Famicom era. Scales of Conviction segments represent major story choices that can change the narrative. It's more of making a series of decisions to naturally end up where you’re going. There are some decisions where the player might assume it’ll cause a big difference in the story afterward, but one choice is not going to completely change the story. We really thought about how the players can enjoy making these decisions and how the choices can become fun branches, like, “I made this choice so I'm in this fun storyline right now.” But no one choice is going to completely change a player’s experience. ![]() How much story variation is there based on the choices that you make?Īsano: Based on what choices the player makes, the story can go in completely different directions. We decided to make the characters as original as possible so that in the storyline, players can understand, “Oh this character is an attacker or this one is a healer.” In the narrative, those characters say aggressive things or focus on supporting and helping people, respectively. We have to think about a game system that would be easy to understand and the same for the characters and the setting. Was a more job-based system like in Final Fantasy ever considered instead of Triangle Strategy’s unique characters?Īrai: We thought of that since audiences of Square Enix tactics games would expect it, but we decided against it because this game will be suitable for current gamers who have a lot of entertainment options like Netflix or other big game titles. This interview has been edited for clarity and brevity.Įxploration segments let you walk around areas of the world, and learn more about the lore and story. The trend really blew up with Octopath Traveler in 2018 and continues with Triangle Strategy, but also an upcoming remake of Live A Live, an RPG previously only available in Japan.Īhead of Triangle Strategy’s release on March 4, Inverse spoke with Asano and fellow producer Yasuaki Arai about the game’s development, how they settled on Triangle Strategy as the name, and their potential hopes for more HD-2D Square Enix remakes like Live A Live in the future. Square Enix’s Team Asano developed all three titles and is therefore responsible for the growing popularity of HD-2D video games in the publisher’s lineup. Based on generally positive review scores, Triangle Strategy will soon join Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler in Square Enix’s growing lineup of retro-style RPGs with “weird” names. But for one reason or another, the name stuck. Asano tells Inverse that including “Project” was a way for developers to hedge their bets and create “a little bit of room to be able to change the name” should fan reception be too negative. ![]() “Is the name Triangle Strategy not really unique, but kind of weird?” he asks us at the tail end of an interview about the game’s development. Producer Tomoya Asano has been asking himself, and us, the same question. It’s a question that we’ve all been wondering since before developer and publisher Square Enix confirmed the final title during a September 2021 Nintendo Direct. Is the name Triangle Strategy kind of strange?

12/25/2023 0 Comments Sally timms![]() As an album of eerie, throat-constricting songcraft, World works beautifully as an art-rock treatise on sexual politics and masculine identity, it falls a little limp. Disembodied guitars and skeletal melodies float in and around her voice, though the lyrical sentiments - war is homoerotic, men aren't in touch with their feelings, etc. Penned by an all-male stable of songwriters including Ryan Adams, Mark Eitzel and the Mekons' Jon Langford, this disc channels the intimate and often unflattering confessions of men through Timms's squeaky, cerebral vocals. Sally Timms was born on Novemin Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. In David Mitchell’s Slade House, the narrator of each chapter is targeted by the Grayer twins because they all seem to be engifted. Oh man the memories, staying awake till the next day just to crack some application before some other group pre'd it just to find out that it got nuked because the crack of the rival group was smaller. I had done some chiptunes, logos and a few keygen/patcher/trainer skins when I was in the PC scene. I really really loved the 4 channel mono amiga chiptune music, cracktro's, intro's, trainers. It might sound weird but cracking and gamehacking I enjoyed more than making music on these trackers. Trying to literally "write" your samples, tuning them was a pain in the ass, playing with the arps which always was effect X4X, vibrato was I believe X6X. I was a cracker/keygenner/gamehacker but I had a great time playing with ProTracker and Fasttracker. I used to be a part of a few 0day cracking/demoscene groups. I wouldn't even recommend a x0x interface if you want the level of detail and speed that a tracker can provide. Even in hardware, the closest I've seen is in pseudo-random trigger sequence generation. Trackers are especially good for building complicated drum sections. If you put in the time to learn it, it becomes an instrument in its own right, and you can work faster than you thought possible. In modern trackers like OpenMPT and Renoise, most functions are a right-click away, but to take advantage of the speed that tracking is capable of, you absolutely have to put the mouse away get to know the keyboard shortcuts. Like with ZTracker, the only time I'm using the mouse is for saving and loading files. Not only is it used for entering notes like a synth keyboard, but keyboard shortcuts are pretty much the soul of the tracker experience. You have to keep in mind that it was developed in the early days of computing as a way to work with the limited hardware available at the time, so where it took on a life of its own was in its use of the computer keyboard. Fair warning though: The tracker interface isn't for everybody. Renoise is an excellent one with a lot of depth, and the free version can do everything the full version can except for Rewire support and rendering to. It's grown up pretty well over the years and even has VST support these days. Is there a good $free Tracker I can DL, with some comprehensive demo songs that really make use of what it's particularly good for, that will give me a good dose of This Is What They're All About in a day or a week?ModPlug (Now OpenMPT) is a really good one. I may not have ever even looked at one in person, not that I recall at least, which seems a little weird since I've used DAW-ish things since the early 90s. 12/25/2023 0 Comments Gpsy co ltdWhen most people think of graphic design, they think Photoshop. First up: an awesome background photo edited in Photoshop. Production designers use it to create web-ready digital images. Photographers use it to adjust and transform their photos with color and lighting. Fine artists use it to draw, sketch and even paint digitally. Since then, Photoshop has evolved a full slate of tools that allow users to do so much more. The app was originally designed as a comprehensive solution for creating, editing and retouching any type of raster image. What’s Photoshop good for? This one’s pretty easy (hint: it’s in the name). Let’s take a look at when you should use each. A raster project is an image built out of a set number of pixels that will change in quality when resized (e.g. Print or digitalĪ vector project is an image built with lines and curves that can be enlarged or shrunk-down to any size (e.g. So how do you know which app to use? You can talk about how it led the way in terms of culture and style and attitude on Queen West, and it was a complete reflection of the neighbourhood, but I can't even tell you how many people were engaged there, or things like the `I am Canadian' commercials that were penned in the dining room, and artists who would sell out stadiums and prefer to hang out there and have a drink or even perform there. I do wish I could go in and get a few more sentimental pieces, but if there's anything that the Gypsy represents to a lot of people, it's really memories. And given the circumstances, I don't think I lost much. We let Shqueir have the final word on the Gyspy: Gypsy leaves behind long-time neighbour bars Squirly's and the Done Right Inn. It closed abruptly last week, three days before New Year's, bringing a sudden end to a place that once represented Queen West cool. They made the tough decision to close the bar, instead. But as time has gone by, with the difficulties of the restaurant business, the liquor licence up for renewal in the coming months and the building in need of renovation to keep it competitive, Shqueir found he and his partners could no longer afford it. He chose Gypsy, he says, in the hope of carrying it further in the future. He helped build up its former sister bar, Fez Batik, and was given a choice to buy one of them. Izzy Shqueir has long been a part of Gypsy, first as an employee and eventually as co-owner. If you budget all of your income (which you should), these two fields should be the same. your income subtracts how much you’ve spent from your total monthly income. your budget subtracts how much you’ve spent from how much you’ve budgeted or put into the different budgeting fields. There are two fields for your actual spend: one that compares your spending to your budget and one that compares your actual spending to your overall income. If you’re over budget, look for ways to save money and cut your spending. The “Actual Spend” boxes will be green if you’re under budget or red if you’re over budget. Once you’ve entered all the values, the spreadsheet will tell you how much you have left at the end of the month. What if you don’t really know how much you spend? No worries, just use your transaction history and bank statements to make your best guess for any expenses you’re not sure about. Use the “Leftover Income To Budget” box at the bottom of the spreadsheet to see how much of your total cash you haven’t yet allocated to a budget category (make sure you’re using all of your income!).Track your actual spending throughout the month in the “Spent” column.Add any categories we missed in the “Other” rows.Fill in the blanks for your monthly expenses by putting your typical costs in the “Budgeted” column for each category.Enter your monthly income (after taxes) at the top of the spreadsheet. How to create your personal budget template Now that you know how a 50/30/20 budget (or spending plan) works, the next step is to personalize the budget template. Spending plans tend to be more realistic for most of us. This can be a helpful perspective if you’ve ever found budgeting to be too restrictive. By breaking your total income down into categories, you’re telling yourself how much you can spend in each category - not focusing on what you shouldn’t spend. You can think of your budget as a spending plan. This includes putting money into your emergency fund, investing in retirement accounts, and saving for big financial goals - like the down payment on a car or house. This includes the things you do for fun, such as going to concerts or dining out, and other things that are important to you, like updating your seasonal wardrobe or donating to charity. This includes household expenses that may fluctuate (think: groceries and utilities) as well as fixed costs, like insurance premiums or car payments, and other non-negotiables. ![]() Then, it gives a different percentage of your income to each of these expense categories. This is a widely used strategy that’s easy to apply and remember.īasically, it helps you set priorities in your budget and categorize expenses by breaking your spending into three types: needs, wants, and savings. Thus, a strikingly alienating sensation accompanied me throughout the entire movie. Once these are completely removed, they become other people entirely. There are intricacies of Japanese culture that affect how family life, romance, and professional expectations affect the behavior of the characters. Seeing Light cowering and moved to tears, or L screaming and running down the streets with a gun, all I could think of was: “this would never happen with the Japanese versions of Light and L”. Watching an overly-emotional L and a skittish Light go at it in the Netflix film, while having the almost impassive, introspective characters of the anime in mind, was quite an odd journey. ![]() Perhaps because I’m more emotionally invested in the Death Note anime series than in the Ghost in the Shell anime film –and yes, I’ve watched them both-, I realized how much could get lost in translation by just changing th cultural background of the characters. ![]() However, after watching Death Note, my personal view was challenged. The ‘issue’ of Johansson’s casting as Major didn’t really bother me¹, except for the ethics of opening the market to Asian or Asian-American actors, which I absolutely support.
